Methodology
How to read a Tax Advisor Index profile.
Use the profile to understand who a Specialist serves, what supports the stated expertise, when the evidence was reviewed, and which visibility features are paid.

Publication
Human approval determines whether a profile appears publicly.
Verification
Active membership determines the Verified badge and member capabilities.
Authority Status
Approved evidence determines Emerging, Established, or Leading Authority.
Membership Tenure
Continuous membership coverage plus an active approved Specialty placement determines the final exact-tie breaker.
Sponsorship
Separate paid inventory determines disclosed Sponsored visibility only.
What evidence we review
Tax Advisor Index uses a consistent editorial process to decide whether public-safe materials support a clear Specialist profile, qualifying Specialties, an evidence summary, and an Authority Status or review status. A human reviews every source and approves authoritative public content. This process does not certify tax competence or replace licensing and client due diligence.

How profiles and results are organized
Profile sections connect Specialty focus, services, client situations, firm context, and public-safe evidence. Evidence is reviewed for specificity, relevance, recency, and whether it supports the profile without revealing confidential client information. A human reviews every source and approves the final public content.
Attributable, Specialty-relevant client feedback may support a review when it can be tied to a credible source. Ratings alone, duplicates, incentives, and firm-level comments are not treated as individual Specialist evidence.
Firm website and specialist bio

Articles, webinars, podcasts, or CPE/CLE
Credential or directory references

Advisor-submitted public-safe material
Paid visibility and standard results
Specialists
All relevant published profiles. Standard ordering considers client relevance, Specialty fit, approved Authority Status, source evidence, geography, services, completeness, freshness, and finally eligible Membership Tenure for an otherwise exact tie.
Sponsored Specialists
Separate, disclosed, date-bounded visibility available only to active Verified profiles where Specialty fit and inventory support it.
Sponsored Placement affects disclosed visibility within Tax Advisor Index surfaces only. It does not improve Authority Status, source evidence, client fit, or any standard-results ordering factor.
Published profiles can appear in the Specialist Directory, Specialty pages, and profile pages without verification. Active verification enables Request Introduction when routing exists and creates Get Matched eligibility when fit and routing requirements pass. Membership does not change Authority Status, fit, evidence, completeness, freshness, or score; eligible Membership Tenure may resolve only the final exact tie before Specialist name.
